About This Fundraiser
In September 2025, Opie was diagnosed with a bulged disc in his lower spine, causing him to lose feeling in his left leg.
The medical diagnosis:
"Moderate disc degeneration with L5-S1 dorsal bulge 6mm AP left central extruded herniation with 8mm cephalad migration with component of heterogeneously increased T2/STIR signal compresses the left traversing S1 nerve root with moderate left eccentric central stenosis."
Meaning:
"The intervertebral disc between the last lumbar (low back) vertebrae and the sacrum is bulged 6 millimeters (measuring from front of spine to back) into the center/center-left of the spinal column. This bulge has also moved 8 millimeters upward within the spinal canal, causing significant swelling and increasing pressure on a larger section of the spinal column. These combined factors are causing compression on the S1 nerve root, resulting in the left leg tingling and going numb."
This website is a fundraiser to help cover the costs of medical care related to Opie Mulvey's back injury.
